It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672. high school students they will receive $1,000 Governor's Scholarships for college. The ninth-, 10th- and 11th-graders scored in the top 10 percent of their school or the top 5 percent of the state in exams taken last spring. Awards are based on the English/language arts and mathematics sections of the Stanford 9 portion of the STAR tests, standardized exams issued annually statewide to high school students. The scholarships will be deposited into the Golden State Scholarshare Trust until the students enroll in college.
