and Tribune Media Services (TMS; Chicago, IL), the content-licensing
unit of Tribune Company, have formed a partnership to introduce a daily
news service for use by newspapers in the U.S. and abroad. The Variety
Entertainment News Service will provide editors with access to
breaking-news stories and analyses; feature articles; newsmaker
profiles; opinion columns; movie, TV, music and theater reviews; box
office reports; and, photographs. Newspapers may publish the material in
both their print and online editions. The daily service, scheduled to be
launched on September 26, 2005, will draw editorial content from
"Daily Variety," "Weekly Variety," Variety.com and
"VLife," a bimonthly magazine about the lifestyles of the
stars and other high-profile people throughout the entertainment
industry. The service also will supply content from the weekly trade
publication "Video Business."
