"Variety," a unit of Reed Business Information (New York) and Tribune Media Services (TMS; Chicago, IL), the content-licensing unit of Tribune Company, have formed a partnership to introduce a daily news service for use by newspapers in the U.S. and abroad.


"Variety," a unit of Reed Business Information Reed Business Information is a large business publisher in the United States, United Kingdom, continental Europe, Australia and Asia. It is a division of Reed Elsevier.

In 2005, Reed Business Information started the Quill Awards, a literary award broadcast on NBC.
 (New York) and Tribune Media Services Tribune Media Services ("TMS") is a syndication company owned by the Tribune Company.

The company is divided into two divisions, "News and Features" and "Entertainment Products".

 profiles; opinion columns; movie, TV, music and theater reviews; box office reports; and, photographs. Newspapers may publish the material in both their print and online editions. The daily service, scheduled to be launched on September 26, 2005, will draw editorial content from "Daily Variety," "Weekly Variety," Variety.com and "VLife," a bimonthly magazine about the lifestyles of the stars and other high-profile people throughout the entertainment industry. The service also will supply content from the weekly trade publication "Video Business."
