"The Rabbi and the CEO" Authors in Local NYC Appearances.

Doctor Zweifel and Rabbi Raskin to Discuss Critically Acclaimed Book at UJA-Federation Engagement and Other Local Appearances on Heels of Jewish Book Council Recognition

NEW YORK -- Former Columbia University professor and Swiss Consulting Group CEO Thomas Zweifel and Rabbi Aaron Raskin of Brooklyn-based Chabad-Lubavitch, co-authors of The Rabbi and the CEO: The Ten Commandments for 21(st) Century Leaders (SelectBooks, 2008), are making local appearances in support of their innovative new book. This micro-book tour comes in the wake of the book's recent qualification as a finalist in the 2008 National Jewish Book Awards.

On Wednesday, January 28, Dr. Zweifel and Rabbi Raskin will speak at a program given by the United Jewish Appeal (UJA)-Federation, the philanthropic giant dedicated to both strengthening Jewish community and culture worldwide, and maintaining good relations between the Jewish community and the world at large. The event, produced under the auspices of the organization's Wall Street & Financial Services Division, will be at the UJA-Federation's midtown Manhattan headquarters at 130 East 59th Street (7th floor) and runs from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. Billed as "An Evening with Dr. Thomas D. Zweifel and Rabbi Aaron L. Raskin", it will involve an interactive discussion of their book with a focus on its leadership methodologies. They will also host a book signing event at the Barnes & Noble at 106 Court Street in Brooklyn on the evening before (January 27). The program will include a reading from The Rabbi and the CEO, followed by a Q&A session. They conclude the week with an appearance on WOR 710AM Radio's "Joey Reynolds Show" late Thursday night/early Friday morning, January 29th, at 2 am .

The Rabbi and the CEO uses traditional Jewish philosophy and ethics (mussar) to examine the failures of vision that have led to the host of crises faced by institutions and governments the world over, and provides a plan for avoiding such pitfalls using the venerable Jewish ethical tradition that is so fundamental to Western culture The authors are acknowledged experts in their fields and commanding personalities both in person and on the page. This dynamism is reflected in the pages of the book, which has earned acclaim from CNN's Ali Velshi, The Jewish Press, and UJA-Federation's CEO Dr. John Ruskay.

Another strong indicator of the book's importance is its recent recognition as a finalist in the "Modern Jewish Thought & Experience" category at the Jewish Book Council's National Jewish Book Awards. In competition alongside titles by some of the most prominent writers and thinkers of the Jewish world, its performance was referred to by SelectBooks' Publisher Kenzi Sugihara, as "a significant achievement for our publishing house."

The tour will continue into the coming months as the publisher and authors coordinate future events nationwide. The authors are available for commentary and speaking engagements via the SelectBooks publicity office. The Rabbi and the CEO is available at fine book-sellers everywhere.
