"TEVA" To be New Nasdaq Ticker Symbol for Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd, Effective Monday, August 23, 1999.


JERUSALEM, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)--August 19, 1999--

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Hebrew: טבע תעשיות פרמצבטיות בע"מ), NASDAQ: TEVA is an international pharmaceutical company headquartered in  Ltd (Nasdaq: TEVIY) announced today that effective at the close of business on Friday, August 20, 1999, the ticker symbol Ticker Symbol

An arrangement of characters (usually letters) representing a particular security listed on an exchange or otherwise traded publicly. When a company issues securities to the public marketplace, it selects an available ticker symbol for its securities which investors
 for the shares of the Company's ADRs will change from TEVIY to TEVA on the Nasdaq. The Company's shares will commence trading under the new TEVA ticker symbol at the opening of the market on Monday, August 23, 1999.

Teva is pleased to be able to use its name as its ticker symbol. This is a result of recent changes to Nasdaq requirements allowing Teva to drop the "Y", which indicates an ADR ADR - Astra Digital Radio , from its ticker symbol. Teva has been traded in Israel since 1951 and listed its ADRs on the Nasdaq exchange in 1982. Today, approximately 50% of its shares are held by U.S. institutions.
