"Streamlining" homeland security. (Insider Report).


The Washington Post reported on January 27th that the Pentagon is considering placing a four-star military officer in charge of troops to defend the American homeland, as part of the effort to improve homeland security Noun 1. Concerned at the alleged inefficiency of having military air, land, and sea patrols defending the homeland under separate chains of command, military brass now favor "streamlining" homeland security operations. "All the chiefs and CINCs have seen the plan and have signed on to it, although it has not yet been briefed to the president," the Post quoted one senior military officer as saying.

Cheney said that future terrorist attacks could create a situation "that clearly is going to require military involvement to deal with the consequences."
