"Report on research compliance" from Atlantic Info. Services.


Atlantic Information Services See Information Systems.  (Washington, D.C.), in cooperation with the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA NCURA National Council of University Research Administrators ; Washington, D.C.), has launched Report on Research Compliance, an information service that includes a weekly e-mail newsletter, a monthly print newsletter and access to a subscriber-only web site. An annual subscription costs $282 for NCURA members and $382 for non-members.

 and focuses on dealing with the diverse group of federal rules and requirements that fall under the umbrella of "research compliance." Those requirements range from internal business issues to matters of international security.

Editorial includes information on: federal issues such as laws, regulations, agency opinions and guidance, and grant policies; biosafety and security (enforcement actions and lawsuits, export controls, sensitive data); financial compliance (audits, enforcement actions/lawsuits, conflict of interest); human subjects protection (HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act of 1996, Public Law 104-191) Also known as the "Kennedy-Kassebaum Act," this U.S. law protects employees' health insurance coverage when they change or lose their jobs (Title I) and provides standards for patient health, , regulations, accreditation); scientific misconduct scientific misconduct,
n the fabrication, falsification, or plagiarism of research data, or other violations of ethical standards of the scientific community.
 (debarments, lawsuits, regulatory changes); and, technology transfer (lawsuits).

The weekly e-mail newsletter reports on recent events in Washington and the web site links to federal agencies and documents such as laws and regulations, agency opinions and guidance, policies and article archives.
