 Publishing (Marietta, GA) has begun the publication of Patient Safety & Quality Healthcare, a new journal focusing on providing information for improving patient safety and healthcare. It will be published six times a year beginning in January 2005 and distributed on a controlled basis to qualified healthcare professionals. An annual subscription costs $49.

The journal is targeted to a range of medical and healthcare workers, including facility administrators, chief nursing officers, physicians, patient safety officers, medical affairs directors and compliance officers at hospitals, group practices, HHOs, ambulatory care centers, managed care facilities, and rehab facilities, as well as insurers, healthcare consulting companies, government agencies and medical equipment companies.

Editorial includes news, developments in science and research and opinion/ commentary as well as features on project implementations, technology solutions, research, and public policy developments. The first issue includes stories on: a case study of the implementation of new computer technology at a hospital; ethical considerations in policy development; online patient networks; P4P P4P Pay for Performance (Medicare)
P4P Proactive Network Provider Participation for P2P
 contracting; and, public records and the impact of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act of 1996, Public Law 104-191) Also known as the "Kennedy-Kassebaum Act," this U.S. law protects employees' health insurance coverage when they change or lose their jobs (Title I) and provides standards for patient health, .
