Named for explorer Christopher Columbus, the city was founded in 1812 at the confluence of the Scioto and Olentangy rivers, and assumed the functions of state capital in 1816. and will conclude with Denver and Cleveland on Sept. 15. Specific locations for these tournaments will be announced shortly. All summer, MGC producers gave gamers a voice by letting them vote online and choose where they wanted the MGC tournament to go. Now gamers in these cities have the chance to "pwn" their competition in an array of tournaments for a prize package including a round-trip ticket and one-night hotel stay in Dallas for the championships on Oct. 6. "We wanted to give gamers a chance to bring the MGC tournament to cities that normally may not get a video game tournament," said Jeff Gross, president of the Video Gamers League. "The race was really close at the end, with the top six cities coming down to the wire." The MGC tournament features five different gaming competitions including the popular Super Smash Bros. Melee Super Smash Bros. Melee, released in Japan as Dairantō Smash Brothers DX ( from Nintendo, NBA 2K7 by 2K Sports and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 (GRAW GRAW Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (video game) 2) by Ubisoft for consoles, as well as the first ever 3D tournament featuring GTR GTR Guitar GTR Gamertag Radio (gaming community radio show) GTR Guided Tissue Regeneration GTR General Theory of Relativity (physics) GTR Génie des Télécommunications et Réseaux 2 FIA FIA feline infectious anemia. GT Racing Game published by Viva Media, brought by Headplay, and the first ever mainstream mobile tournament from I-play featuring The Fast and the Furious: Fugitive. In addition there is an All-Pro Football 2K8 side tournament and a Wii Bowling side tournament.
