; Montvale, NJ), the largest independent medical publisher in the United States and a division of Advanstar Communications (New York), has launched a new publication and website targeting locum locum /lo·cum/ (lo´kum) [L.] place.
locum te´nens , locum te´nent a practitioner who temporarily takes the place of another.
tenens (LT) physicians. "LocumLife" and its website will focus on the opportunities, issues, challenges and benefits to physicians who are currently, were previously, or may someday be interested in temporary employment.

LocumLife is designed to provide LT physicians with a resource to help them "thrive in this community," Advanstar said, while offering those considering this career alternative a chance to explore it through comments and analysis from mobile physicians and industry experts. Each issue will include information on experiences of colleagues who have chosen this practice alternative, tips and techniques for living and working in new environments, physicians and representatives of staffing companies, hospitals, clinics, and medical offices for career opportunities.

"Through our presence in the travel nursing market, and interaction with our customers, we came to the realization that there was no informational source serving the LT community." Matt Holland, group publisher for LocumLife, continues, "AME is uniquely positioned to serve this niche market," throught the publication of a portfolio of travel nursing products, including "Healthcare Traveler" and "RN's Travel Nursing Today, "and through our significant presence in many primary care and specialty physician markets."

Advanstar said "LocumLife" will enable advertisers to communicate directly with physicians who may be interested in accepting a locum tenens assignment. This interaction will be facilitated through a proprietary online lead generation system that will allow physicians to access information on a particular company and contact a recruiter in real-time if they identify an opportunity that is of interest.
