While traveling, visiting other countries, or going on a cruise, individuals can now carry their identity and critical medical information with them at all times setting limitations in advance on access rights to the data. The CEO of Pathway, Harris F. Rogers, said, "These access rights belong to the individual. Decisions about who can have access to the data, what data can be viewed, and when the data can be accessed should be decided solely by the individual, and in advance of any medical condition or emergency that could threaten the individual's health or life. This allows the individual to be more proactive in keeping their data safe, current, accurate, and accessible. The medical and identity data can now be accessed by anyone, including any public official or healthcare organization, if the user chooses to set the access rights up in that manner. On the other hand, the user can limit data access to only healthcare providers licensed with Pathway's provider version software (JICPRO)".

Rogers added "This is a departure from our earlier versions that virtually eliminated anyone except licensed users of JICPRO from being able to access the data. The change gives users more incentive to take the time to record and carry their medical data with them at all times. It was requested by emergency physicians who suggested that the data be more accessible during disasters or when an individual was traveling or seeking medical services from healthcare providers not licensed with JICPRO".

"Just In Case" [R] with its embedded "Medic 24/7"[TM] support is a combination Disaster Preparedness product and Personal Health Record (PHR). Each user is assigned a unique security code for data access, device tracking, and bar code functions. With the latest change to the product, any computer located at a disaster center, FEMA, the Red Cross, or emergency shelter can access the individual's medical data if the access rights have been set by the individual accordingly. Access by these type organizations to emergency and/or medical data is critical during any disaster or crisis that threatens individuals or the general population.
