"I was gutted, I thought the game was up", says Collingwood.

London, July 14 (ANI): England batsman Paul Collingwood Paul David Collingwood MBE (born 26 May 1976), is an English cricketer. He is a regular member of the England Test side and captain of the One-Day International team. He is also vice-captain of his county, Durham County Cricket Club.  has said that he was terribly upset and thought that the match was over when he lost his wicket against the Australians in the first Ashes Test at Cardiff.

"I was gutted because I thought the game was up. But it shows what can be done when you put your mind to it," The Sun quoted Collingwood, as saying.

"I thought Jimmy and Monty played sensationally well. They were calm, focused, played straight and played the ball late - everything you could possibly ask of them," he added.

Collingwood also disapproved of Australian captain Ricky Ponting's allegations that England used tactics to delay the match.
