"High-definition" cochlear implant.

MED-EL Corporation's new MAESTRO[TM] Cochlear Implant System, featuring FineHearing[TM] technology, allows "high-definition" hearing while offering the smallest internal implant and the thinnest, lightest externally worn speech processor available.

The MAESTRO system comes in two different internal cochlear implants ([SONATATI.sup.100] or [PULSARCI.sup.100]) and gives patients a choice of two speech processors (OPUS 1 or OPUS 2). These speech processors employ two new sound coding strategies that enable people who are profoundly deaf to hear the fine details of sound.

According to MED-EL, a clinical trial incorporating its FineHearing technology demonstrated improvements in music enjoyment and statistically significant improvements in hearing in noisy environments.
