"Habitat" reaps benefit of Weyerhaeuser effort.


"HABITAT" REAPS BENEFIT OF WEYER-HAEUSER EFFORT. Weyerhaeuser Corp., Federal Way, Washington Federal Way is a city in King County, Washington, United States. Federal Way is considered a bedroom community by some people and is located between Seattle and Tacoma. The company will partner with Weyerhaeuser customers and Habitat for Humanity Habitat for Humanity, nonprofit ecumenical Christian organization that enables low-income people to own affordable, livable housing. Headquartered in Americus, Ga., it was founded in 1976 by businessman Millard Fuller and his wife. , Americus, Georgia Americus is a city in Sumter County, Georgia, United States. The population was 17,013 at the 2000 census. Americus is the home town to Habitat for Humanity Internationalinternational headquarters, the famous Windsor Hotel, Fuller Center for Housing international headquarters,  to give people in need a new beginning.

Weyerhaeuser said US$ 1 million will be delivered in grant dollars from the Weyerhaeuser Co. Foundation and in packages of Weyerhaeuser lumber. Company employees will work with Habitat for Humanity affiliates in 18 states and three Canadian provinces to complete 25 homes by May 2006.

The transaction includes 258,000 hectares (635,000 acres) of private timberlands and the annual harvesting rights to 3.6 million cubic meters of public land timber. The sale also includes five softwood sawmills, with a combined annual production of 690 million board feet, and two remanufacturing facilities.
