"Gay" goes Mainstream. (Letters to the Editor).Thank you for your accurate and timely article "Unmentionable Vice Goes Mainstream" by William Norman Grigg William Norman Grigg is a writer of Mexican and Irish descent.[1] He was the senior editor and a prolific contributor to The New American, the official magazine of the John Birch Society. (November 18th issue). As the conservative daughter of a lesbian activist I have felt the edge of the liberal sword. Politically and morally, she and I are divided. I have been labeled a "homophobe" and an "intolerant right-winger" because I do not celebrate her lifestyle. However, it is not the name-calling that troubles me, but the way in which the homosexual agenda has infiltrated every branch of the media, government, schools, and even churches. It seems that homosexuals will not be satisfied until every "perpetrator A term commonly used by law enforcement officers to designate a person who actually commits a crime. of hate" has been prosecuted, imprisoned im·pris·on tr.v. im·pris·oned, im·pris·on·ing, im·pris·ons To put in or as if in prison; confine. [Middle English emprisonen, from Old French emprisoner : en- , and/or silenced. From conversations with my own mother, I have learned that the "Gay Community" intends to purge American society of opponents to their political pogrom pogrom (pō`grəm, pōgrŏm`), Russian term, originally meaning "riot," that came to be applied to a series of violent attacks on Jews in Russia in the late 19th and early 20th cent. . Despots like Stalin and Mussolini cleansed their countries of people who opposed their regimes and philosophies. Gay activists and the liberal left have embarked on a similar path of tyranny. Thank you for continuing to speak the truth in these dark, uncertain times. For those of us who still believe in old-fashioned values and the freedoms that make this country great, your magazine is a Godsend. My husband and I applaud your courageous journalism and look forward to each issue of your magazine. RACHEL ROSENKRANTZ New Carlisle, Ohio New Carlisle is a city in Clark County, Ohio, United States. Rushing upstairs this morning, all agog over the latest issue of THE NEW AMERICAN, and what to my wondering eyes did appear, but visions of fairies, and a whole bunch of queers. Yes, you can call me a homophobe, or whatever "they" like to call nonbelievers, but in truth, I know some folks of both "sexes" afflicted with "gayness," and, in the past, there was nothing said and nobody slighted. Now, however, as in the newspaper business (where I used to work, albeit part time), and on radio and television, the workers are coerced to smile benignly at such activities. Be supportive, even. What I mean to convey is the bare fact (forgive me) that I will let that article linger in the pile of other NEW AMERICANS, there to lose whatever zest it might have had were I interested. Man, I just can't bear to struggle through that stuff, no matter how well written. I find it a waste of everybody's time to even contribute to the continuation of that faith -- that absurd lifestyle. You may say I'm burying my head in the sand, but that's better than burying it in that putrid putrid /pu·trid/ (pu´trid) rotten; putrefied. pu·trid adj. 1. Decomposed; foul-smelling; rotten. 2. Proceeding from, relating to, or exhibiting putrefaction. lifestyle that is being foisted upon us all. Mr. Grigg, who has no peers, probably said that or something like it as he plodded through all that "acceptable evil." But as for me, I'll take my coffee black.
