"Fueling the Dream" - Texaco, Together with U.S. Olympic Committee, Opens Fueling Station at U.S. Olympic Complex.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 12, 1999--

Texaco and the U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC) today inaugurated the first branded fueling station at the U.S. Olympic Complex in Colorado Springs.

At a festive celebration which brought world-class athletes together with Texaco employees, company and USOC officials pumped the ceremonial first tankful of Texaco CleanSystem3 gasoline into a USOC vehicle, and witnessed demonstrations by U.S. gymnasts and skiers.

Under a banner proclaiming "Fueling the Dream," Texaco secretary and vice president of corporate communications Kjestine M. Anderson said, "The athletes who live and train at this impressive facility possess the vision, determination and commitment to excel at their respective sports. The entire Texaco family is pleased to support the efforts of these athletes by providing them the energy to achieve their dream."

The Texaco fueling center, complete with pumps and two service bays, will be used for the fueling and maintenance of all OTC vehicles which transport athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers around the Colorado Springs area. Texaco supplies the fuel and lubricants and OTC personnel operate the fueling center.

Joining Texaco and USOC officials in the celebration were more than 500 local Texaco employees and their families, community partners and athletes training at the U.S. Olympic Training Center. A musical band, comprised of U.S. Olympic Team hopefuls, provided the background to the grand opening festivities which included a barbecue, tours of the OTC and autograph sessions with USA Men's Gymnastics' "Team Texaco."

The U.S. Olympic Complex in Colorado Springs is the headquarters for the U.S. Olympic Committee administration and the Olympic Training Center programs. There are 12 USOC member organizations that have their national headquarters on the complex, and 12 other member organizations and two international sports federations located nearby in Colorado Springs.

The Olympic Complex officially became the USOC administrative headquarters in July 1978. The USOC is able to provide housing, dining, recreational facilities and other services for up to 557 coaches and athletes at one time on the 35-acre complex.
