"Expanding the Food Network brand into the home video arena answers the call of viewers for an in-home library of Food Network programming," said Rockmore. "Launching this retail category is a new way to reach out to our loyal and passionate fan base."

Each show explains a basic category of cooking, in an entertaining and informative way, making recipes and techniques accessible to viewers. The network will support the launch of the home videos with an online advertising campaign on FoodTV.com, a direct response effort on-air on Food Network and outdoor advertising. The episodes featured are viewer favorites, frequently requested and referenced in viewer email, letters and phone calls. The videos, $19.95 including shipping and handling per tape or $50.00 for all three, will be available on FoodTV.com or by calling 1-800-565-FOOD beginning November 15.

The first installment of the "Good Eats" trilogy will be "Juicy Meats," which contains three different shows about meats - ribs, steak, and chicken. "A Rib for All Seasons" finds Alton trapped on a desert island eating ribs, managing to show viewers how to turn ribs in to paradise. "Steak Your Claim" shows viewers how to acquire everything from the right steak to the perfect pan to sear it in, while "A Bird in the Pan" answers why the chicken did cross the road - to escape Alton's definition of the perfect oiled chicken!

The second three-some explores the wonderful world of "Super Sweets." "Three Chips for Sister Marsha" follows Alton's sister Martha as she searches for the perfect cookie recipe. "The Art of Darkness" delves into the dark world of chocolate as Alton picks a pod, roasts some beans, and even visits his shrink. "Churn Baby Churn" teaches viewers the secret to not just screaming for, but making their own ice cream.

Finally, the third trio, "Holiday Treats" feature Alton's favorite recipes for the holidays. "Romancing the Bird" is a Food Network Thanksgiving classic

Pop culture, comedy, and plain good eating - in "Good Eats," host Alton Brown explores the origins of ingredients, decodes culinary customs and presents food and equipment trends. Punctuated by unusual interludes, simple preparations and unconventional discussions, Alton brings viewers food in its finest and funniest form. Raised in his mother's and grandmother's kitchens, Alton Brown worked as a cook throughout high school and college. After a decade working as a cinematographer and video director, Alton realized that he spent all his time between shoots watching cooking shows, reading cookbooks and eating. Alton and his wife DeAnna then left the film business and moved to Vermont to pursue his first love: food. Alton attended the New England Culinary Institute The New England Culinary Institute (NECI) is a culinary school located in Montpelier, Vermont founded on June 15, 1980 by Fran Voigt and John Dranow. The first NECI class, conducted by Chef Michel LeBorgne, had just seven students.  in Montpelier, VT, but during his years as a culinary student and throughout the restaurant and catering jobs that followed, he couldn't forget about television. He began to conceive a new kind of cooking show, one that would entertain and inform with wit and humor - something for his sitcom-and-fast-food-junkie generation. With that in mind, he started writing "Good Eats," a show that combines his passion for food with quirky pop culture. Alton not only writes the shows but also stars in each offbeat off·beat
