The criminal may have thought the place an easy mark, but store owner Tina Brown Tina Brown, Lady Evans (born Christina Hambley Brown on November 21, 1953, in Maidenhead, England) is a journalist, magazine editor, columnist, talk-show host and author of The Diana Chronicles, a biography of Diana, Princess of Wales, a personal friend.  had begun keeping a gun on the premises--in her words, "Enough's enough!"

Another employee was stocking shelves elsewhere in the store at the time. Hearing the commotion, he grabbed the gun that Brown kept in the store and fired a shot that struck Daniels in the torso. Daniels slumped to the floor, then rose and staggered from the store, dropping his unfired gun just outside the door. He collapsed at the far end of the parking lot and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The entire incident was caught on a security surveillance camera, clearly showing Daniels intimidating the cashier with a gun in his hand.
