"China Law Review" from Taylor & Francis.Taylor & Francis (Philadelphia, PA), a unit of Informa Group, has begun the publication of "China Law Review," a new journal that offers insight into the legal practices, problems and theories "of a contemporary Chinese society in transition," T&F said. It will be published twice in 2007 with frequency to be expanded to quarterly in 2008. An annual subscription costs $144 for firms and organizations and $108 for individuals. The company said the new title offers, for the first time, an accurate "Chinese perspective" on legal developments in that country, while focusing on the convergence of Chinese and Western legal concepts and laws, and the Chinese approach to realizing democracy, human rights and the rule of law in general. Its mission is to create an equal dialogue between Chinese and Western legal scholars. The journal examines the transition of China's legal system from the influence of the Confucian philosophy of social control through moral education, as well as the legalist emphasis on codified law and criminal sanctions remain, to modern legal concepts and approaches, especially those areas that have ramifications internationally such as intellectual property, antitrust and international law and practice. Content for the journal also includes coverage of a wide range of related topics, including ongoing development of Chinese law, including new laws and regulation, defamation, property law, contract law, company law, partnership law, sole proprietorship law, foreign trade, investment regulation, environmental law, punishment, and trends. |
