"American Nurse Today" and "Arizona Nurse" launched.


The American Nurses Association American Nurses Association,
n.pr professional organization of registered nurses created to encourage high standards in nursing care, pro-mote nursing as a profession, and lobby Congress for issues of concern to nurses.
 (ANA; Silver Spring, MD) and Healthcom Media (Doylestown, PA) have begun the publication of "American Nurse Today" with an issue in October. The new monthly magazine is distributed on a mixed paid and controlled basis to 175,000 nurses in a range of specialties and practice settings and including all ANA members (150,000).

The ANA said "American Nurse Today" is designed to supply nurses with practical information that will enhance patient outcomes, develop their professional careers and build their educational foundation of best practices. It includes clinical data and content related to all nursing specialties In the modern world, there are a large number of specialities within nursing. Professional organizations or certifying boards issue voluntary certification in many of these specialties.  as well as regular features on ANA developments, best practices, patient education, legal and ethical issues, time management, negotiating contracts, Magnet magnet: see electromagnet; magnetism.

The premier issue's cover story is an overview of the current state of nursing in light of ongoing changes in technology, nursing science, research and legislation. Feature articles cover: treatment guidelines guidelines,

 for heart failure; disaster response; calculating I.V. drip rates; new techniques in the respiratory cycle; the ethics ethics, in philosophy, the study and evaluation of human conduct in the light of moral principles. Moral principles may be viewed either as the standard of conduct that individuals have constructed for themselves or as the body of obligations and duties that a  of communication with patients; information technology; and, delegating tasks.

Healthcom Media also publishes "Assisted Living as·sist·ed living

A living arrangement in which people with special needs, especially older people with disabilities, reside in a facility that provides help with everyday tasks such as bathing, dressing, and taking medication.
 Consult," "Medicare Patient Management" and "Menopause menopause (mĕn`əpôz) or climacteric (klīmăk`tərĭk, klī'măktĕr`ĭk)  Management" magazines. The ANA also publishes "The American Nurse," produced six times a year, and related books and reports. Its previous relationship with Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins' (Philadelphia, PA) "American Journal of Nursing," through which the ANA contributed content and distributed the magazine to its members, was terminated in September.

Also, The Arizona Nurses Association (Tempe, AZ) and Publishing Concepts, Inc. (Little Rock, AR) have launched "Arizona Nurse," a quarterly title to provide coverage and analysis of the nursing profession in the state. It has a controlled circulation of 15,000 including association members.
